Senior Symposium

Austin Kana

Registration Deadline is Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010!

We invite you to celebrate academics and celebrate seniors - please join us for the second annual Hobart and William Smith Senior Symposium, on Friday, April 9, 2010.

The seniors participating in the symposium's April 2009 inaugural event shared their intellectual pursuits with the campus community in a spectacular way. 80 students represented the Natural and Social Sciences and Arts and Humanities, as well as CCESL and CGE.

In this second annual day of presentations by HWS Seniors, we will honor the best traditions of a liberal arts education, taking academics outside the classroom, giving individual academic passions a broad audience, and exchanging ideas among diverse HWS communities.

We also have designed the symposium to foster student success beyond college, and, as you will see when you explore this website, we have provided several opportunities for students to refine their skills while they are preparing for the symposium.

As with many other initiatives sponsored by the Center for Teaching and Learning, the Senior Symposium will promote a love of learning and encourage student engagement; we hope all HWS students will be inspired by this symposium. All seniors in all majors are invited to participate in this showcase of our best student work; faculty and staff are invited to seek out and encourage students, and to join the CTL in its efforts to further prepare our seniors for the world beyond HWS.

I invite you to explore this website to learn more about application procedures and options for participation in this first all-campus showcase of our students' best, most exciting work.
