Opportunities include helping students with their instrument lessons, singing, or visual arts program, grant writing and research for the program, and observation and research on how a non-profit organization is run

Looking for leadership development youth program facilitators (training provided) for the fall. It would include 6 sessions on Sunday afternoons for 3-4 hours
Catholic Charities
Looking for one or two students to work with the individual living skills group that consists of 14-16 year olds in foster care. It is an after school program (3-5pm) that takes place in Phelps (transportation can be provided from Catholic Charities).
Looking for volunteers to run a session one afternoon for the individual living skills program on a topic that will be helpful to the adolescents (i.e., preparing to apply for/go to college)

Need people to help with prevention groups in middle schools/high schools, help organize them, focusing on healthy relationships/prevention of domestic violence

United Way Surge after school program in Ovid, NY at South Seneca Middle School is looking for student volunteers. They are looking to implement 6-8 week modules teaching our students a variety of subjects.
Big Brother Big Sister
Need students to be Bigs. School-based program: for students with no transportation, will use college vans to transport to local schools, Tuesdays 2:30-5:00. Need van certified drivers for school-based program. Community-based program: once a week meeting with a “little” in the community
Boys and Girls Club
Looking for volunteers to work after school from 3-4:45pm to do homework and play with the children for long-term or 2-3 times a semester positions. (If you do not want to go through the screening process you can opt to be a “visitor” for a few visits a semester without having to go through the fingerprinting and paperwork)
Looking for students to be part of the “Kid Biz” program that allows children to use computers and work online chatting with the student and doing literacy programs/responses. The students would read and discuss the child’s response online (training available) and would then meet with the child once a week on campus (for an hour). Program would begin in October
Looking for students who will be willing to participate in incentive trips to the campus (or plan one at the center). The children would be bussed to campus and would participate in activity (i.e. scavenger hunt, presentation, projects)
Child and Family Resource Center
Need volunteers to help out in the early childhood programs. Would be supporting the teacher and acting as an assistant in the classroom
Need help in providing childcare for the parent ed class on Thursdays from 1:30-3:00
From December through June, need any students that would be interested in helping out with childcare for a new program they are offering parents. Childcare would be needed Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00-11:30. Students can volunteer for part or the entire shift and need to provide their own transportation.
Geneva Head Start at North Street
Would like volunteers in the classrooms (most happens between 9:00-11:00, 1:00-3:00)
Geneva Lakefront Childcare Center
Need volunteers for the classroom (naps occur between 12:30-2:30 so ideal time is morning and later afternoon) and help with transitions and activities.
Head Start
The Director at Seneca County Head Start in Seneca Falls, NY is looking for anyone interested in assisting their school with the planning and execution of a project. For the past 2 years they have been responding to an initiative to increase male involvement in children’s education by conducting “Special Male Nights” three or four times a year. They have typically been scheduled during the week for about 1 ½ hours.
St. Peter’s Church: Neighbor’s Night
Need volunteers for the Neighbors Night program. Consists of songs, storytelling, full warm dinner, and craft/recreation time with children grades kindergarten-middle school. Program begins at 5:00 and runs until 7:00 on Wednesday evenings

Stock investing group- would like to create one to help people in the community plan for the future, provide access to information and opportunities, focus on thriving and not only surviving

Drives- end of the year drive for items students will leave behind (blankets, sheets, canned goods, toiletries, etc.), collection boxes on campus
Disaster trailer- located on campus, cleaning/maintaining/organizing it

Need a helper to wash dishes in the kitchen with the cook

Volunteers to clean the pantry/fridges. Work in pantry (especially on Mondays)
Operation Merry Christmas- donate new toys for children/families, help with heavy lifting, moving or rearranging of items collected
Food drives- collect food items to restock the pantry with (soup, juice, canned tuna, canned/boxed meals, cereal, oatmeal, canned fruit, etc.)
Unload the food truck- 30-60 minutes every other week (can call to get date and time)
Community Lunch Program
Serving at the lunch program (flexible shifts/times)
Gathering sizable amounts of leftover food to donate to the program, can be donated 24/7 (call Marge at 781-2583)
October 6th- Miracle March: fundraiser to benefit the Community Lunch Program, sponsored walk around the streets of Geneva
October 16th- Empty Bowl Dinner: pay $20 to have a soup/bread dinner and take the bowl home after, sponsored by Catholic Charities and will benefit their Emergency Assistance Program
Hold end of year drives to collect leftover school supplies to be distributed to children at their program
Need help with heavy lifting when food is being delivered (same day as Center for Concern)
Before breaks or before summer donate leftover food that will be otherwise thrown out
Paper product drive- collect items such as paper towels, toilet paper, and napkins to be used at program
