Whether it's interning in London, studying in Spain, or doing research in Germany, most Hobart and William Smith students will have had some kind of international learning experience before they graduate.
With some planning, Theatre students can travel abroad and still graduate on time. Recently HWS Theatre students have studied in Ireland, France, England, New Zealand, Australia, Vietnam, Japan, and Indonesia. While the Center for Global Education offers abroad programs on six continents, faculty from the Theatre program sponsor a program in Bali, Indonesia.
The Performing Arts of Bali is a three week intensive exploration into the rich performing arts tradition of Bali, Indonesia. Students will be immersed in various aspects of Balinese performing arts including Dance, Masked Performance, Traditional Instrument Performance, Shadow Puppetry, and Mask Carving.
Once in Bali, our "classroom" is an actual professionally operating artistic conservatory where students will be working with, performing with, and surrounded by professional artists of Bali. The conservatory is also home to numerous antique Balinese instruments including antique gamelan sets.
At HWS, students have the freedom to study at any of our Global Education destinations.
The featured abroad program is recommended by the Theatre program based on content of the curriculum.
