FINANCIAL AID

At Hobart and William Smith, we believe that before deciding how to pay for college, you should decide what you want from this investment. The kind of education you buy should be the kind of education you value.

The educational experience offered by a small liberal arts college is very different from that offered by a large public university or research university. It is like comparing apples and oranges and pears.

Hobart and William Smith offer one of the finest private liberal arts educations available. If that's what you are looking for, we're willing to work with you in achieving that goal.

That's why more than 80% of HWS students receive some form of financial assistance.

More than 82% of first-year students receive HWS grants and scholarships. In 2009-10, the average first-year HWS award was $22,023 and the average total aid package was $32930.

In addition to federal and state financial assistance, HWS need, non-need and academic merit awards for 2009-10 exceeded $34 million.
