Important Deadlines for Families

General deadlines

As a family member of a Hobart or William Smith student, we've compiled some important deadlines for student opportunities within various offices on campus. Check back often for additional events and deadlines.

General - Spring 2018

  • April 2-6: Advising Week
    Students meet each semester with their academic adviser. See academic expectations and advising.
  • April 9-18: Registration
    Students register for classes for the Fall 2018 semester. See the Office of the Registrar's website.
  • April 20: Hobart College Charter Day
    Held each spring to commemorate the granting of Hobart's charter by the State of New York. See Hobart College traditions.
  • April 27: William Smith College Moving Up Day
    A ceremony that acknowledges academic awards given to students of William Smith, inducts the new members of the Hai Timiai Honor Society, and recognizes each class as they move up to the next. Invitations will be sent to parents of students receiving awards. See William Smith College traditions.
  • May 13: Commencement
    The Hobart College One Hundred and Ninety-Third Commencement and William Smith College One Hundred and Seventh Commencement exercises will be held on the Hobart Quadrangle starting at 10:30 a.m.

Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning

Spring 2018

Residential Education

  • March 29: Students begin to select spaces in general housing. Students should log into their myResEd to active their profile.
  • May 9: Underclassmen move out day
    Underclassmen are not permitted to stay on-campus for Senior Week and Commencement unless they are working those events.

Intercultural Affairs Dates

  • May 12: Commencement Dinner, 6-8 p.m.
    The Office of Intercultural Affairs invites graduates and their families to a complimentary dinner on the Intercultural Affairs Center front lawn. RSVP to by May 3.
  • May 13: Lunch, 1-3 p.m.
    A complimentary lunch will be available on Intercultural Affairs Center front lawn. RSVP to by May 3.
