Herons Shut Out Pitt-Bradford

William Smith first-year Kara Shue recorded a goal and two assists as the No. 6 Heron soccer team defeated Pitt-Bradford 3-0 in a non-league match played this afternoon in Bradford, Pa. William Smith notched its fifth straight shutout and improved to 6-1-0 this season.
The Panthers are now 4-3-0 overall. Junior Madeline Buckley and sophomore Zoe Eth each chipped in a goal for the Herons. Senior goalie Chelsea Dunay played all 90 minutes, but did not need to make a single saves as William Smith outshot Pitt-Bradford 23-0. It was Dunay's third shutout this season.
Just 2:34 into the match, Shue put the Herons up 1-0 with an unassisted tally. In the 78th minute, Shue sent a long cross to find Buckley, who sent home her shot to make it 2-0. It was Buckley's second goal this year. In the 84th minute, Eth tallied her second goal of the season after another cross from Shue. Shue leads the Herons with 13 points on four goals and five assists.
Danielle Erdley played all 90 minutes in goal for the Panthers. She finished with nine saves. William Smith held an 8-1 advantage in corners.
The Herons will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 28, when they travel to open Liberty League play at St. Lawrence at 3 p.m.
