Preliminary Orientation Schedule for Families
When you initially arrive onto campus, please first park in the Medbery parking lot. After parking, please head to the quad to matriculate and to pick up your student's room key and OneCard. After this, you can head back to your car and head over to your student's residence hall.
Arrive on Campus
Report to The Quad (Rain Site: Bristol Field House)
To facilitate smooth check-in and shorter lines under the Matriculation Tent, Hobart and William Smith strongly recommend that all families arrive during the following staggered check-in hours:
8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. - Third and Fourth Floor Residents
9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. - Second Floor Residents
10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. - Pond-View, Garden-Level and First Floor Residents
Under the Matriculation Tent, you'll meet the President and pick up your Orientation materials, including a personalized schedule.
Assigned Residence Hall
Meet your roommate and check out your new home. Look for Orientation staff to help you move in and IT Services staff to help you connect to the HWS network.
Complimentary On-Campus Lunch
Scandling Campus Center
From 11:30 a.m. through 2 p.m., enjoy a “grab and go” boxed lunch at the Scandling Campus Center Café or a sit-down lunch in Saga Dining Hall with your student and family. A vegetarian option will be available at both locations as well as at the Abbe Center for Jewish Life, 764 South Main Street. If time permits, families are welcome to travel off-campus to enjoy lunch at one of our beautiful downtown Geneva restaurants.
Parent Concurrent Sessions
Between 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., while your student meets the rest of the first-year class, you'll have an opportunity to hear from the Deans, meet with your student's academic adviser and learn about life beyond the classroom.
President's Welcome Ceremony & Family Farewell
Stern Lawn (Rain Site: Bristol Gym)
Welcome to campus from Hobart and William Smith Colleges President. This is the last opportunity for families and students to connect during Orientation weekend.
