Jewish student groups on campus go back to the late 40&aposs, starting with Temple Club and continuing to today with Hillel at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. We are affiliated with "Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life" as a "Small and Mighty Campus". We have weekly inclusive Shabbat dinners at the Abbe Center, and programming for the Jewish holidays and just to have fun! For the past two years we have held a BIG Shabbat dinner in March, where over 200 HWS students, faculty, administrators & community members have celebrated Shabbat together. We celebrate Jewish learning and living while creating a space for students to connect to their peers.
Mission Statement:Hobart and William Smith Colleges Hillel is the Jewish student organization on campus. Students of all religions and backgrounds are welcome to attend Hillel events. We strive to maintain and cultivate a Jewish presence at the colleges, to share in Jewish learning and to provide unique social opportunities for those who join us. We aim to create a home away from home based upon Jewish thought, practices, and cultural expression.
