Philip W. Scott ’83

"Hobart and William Smith Colleges taught me to look at issues, challenges and at the world from various perspectives. I learned to apply a multi-disciplinary approach to argument and problem-solving that valued the opinions and viewpoints of others, but that built well-reasoned and carefully supported assertions. The faculty supported my learning wholeheartedly while they challenged me to deepen who I am, and what I hold dear for me and for the world in which I live, and where our children will live. These lessons and learned values have served me well in the 30+ years since I graduated, and they have never been more important than in the present state of our nation and of our world.
