Having pocket change during my years at Hobart was a rare occurrence. As a result, I always had a job of some kind including working at Saga, especially on fall and spring weekends. One of my fondest memories, therefore, was when the dean told me a donor had given me about $150, just for everyday expenses. I remember asking the dean whom I had to thank for such a generous gift. He said the donor wanted to remain anonymous, but apparently he or she routinely gave such funds to students in need. I gratefully gave the dean a handwritten thank-you note to be passed to the donor. So, this is why I give to Hobart. In case there’s a current student who’s as financially strained as I was during the late 60’s.
