“All of these Fulbright winners benefited from strong faculty mentors, support from HWS’ top-ranked study abroad office, and encouragement from their deans and many others on campus,” says Scott MacPhail, associate director of health professions counseling and fellowship advising. “I am most impressed by each student’s individual initiative, and I congratulate each of them for all of the hard work that led to these opportunities that will take them across the world and on to the next step in their stories.”

Carey, who majored in sociology and education, will serve in Bulgaria. Hauslauer, a sociolinguistics major, and Smith, a sociology major, will both serve in Malaysia. International relations major Kellett will spend her Fulbright term in Germany, while Kellogg’s assistantship will take the comparative literature and Greek major to the Czech Republic. Taylor, an English and Africana studies major, will serve in Kenya.

“I have no doubt that they will all be outstanding Fulbrighters, representing HWS and the U.S. abroad, and bringing back to us the benefit of the relationships and knowledge they will build while off on their Fulbright experiences,” MacPhail says.
