1 April 2020 Gonzalez '20 To Join Bozzuto Group
Double major in media and society and English Gianna Gonzalez ’20 has accepted a position with the Bozzuto Group as a sales and marketing associate in Boston, Mass.
In her role, Gonzalez will be responsible for building brand loyalty, utilizing social media to promote the company, conducting tours of apartment communities, as well as planning and hosting events for local residents in collaboration with local businesses.
Gonzalez’s three years of experience as a Residential Assistant for first-year students has given her a passion for community that she believes will translate to a career in real estate. At the Bozzuto Group, Gonzalez will be able to put her experience creating “fun, meaningful and collaborative programs” for her residents to good use as she works to foster a similarly positive community for leasers.
Last summer, Gonzalez received Guaranteed Internship funding from the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional, and Experimental Education for a public relations and marketing internship with The Borgen Project in Atlanta. Gonzalez sees the internship as an invaluable step, as she “learned how to successfully utilize social media to mobilize viewers to action in calling or emailing their congressional leaders.” Gonzalez has built upon the experience as a student writer in the Office of Communications, where she has written content for the HWS website about the accomplishments of HWS students, as well as promoted speaker series, clubs and other campus events.
Gonzalez credits an information session hosted by the Salisbury Center and a Bozzuto Group campus recruiter with igniting her interest in the company and leading to her success in the interview process. “One of the reasons I chose HWS was how involved Career Services can be for every student, and my experience and results have made me proud of my choice,” she says.
At the advice of Associate Professor of Media and Society Lisa Patti and Assistant Professor of Media and Society Rebecca Burditt, Gonzalez also participated in the Los Angeles Behind the Scenes trip hosted by the Salisbury Center, which allowed her to connect with alums in media and entertainment, as well as gain valuable career insights.
On campus, Gonzalez is a student trustee, an elected position that makes her a voting member of the HWS Board of Trustees. She has worked at Reunion and Orientation and was a member of the Koshare Dance Collective. She is also the past advertising coordinator of the Herald and publicity manager for HWS Chorale. Gonzalez will also graduate with a minor in music.
In the fall of her junior year, Gonzalez studied abroad in Leipzig and Berlin, Germany as a Blocker Fellow, where she blogged about her observations of urban life. She is also a member of the Laurel Society, Hai Timiai, and Lambda Pi Eta honor societies.
