For the fifth consecutive week, the Hobart College hockey team is ranked No. 1 in the DCU/USCHO.com poll. The Statesmen received all 20 first place votes for the fourth consecutive week.
 
Hobart (11-0-0) extended its winning streak to 11 games on Saturday when it defeated Trinity 2-1 in overtime. This is the first time in program history that the Statesmen have won 11 consecutive games and is tied for the fourth-longest unbeaten streak in program history. Junior forward Jonah Alexander scored the game-winning goal with 1:43 remaining in the extra session, batting a crossing pass out of mid-air for his seventh goal of the season.
 
The Statesmen enter the Christmas break as the only unbeaten and untied team in men's college hockey. The Colby women's team is the only other team in all of college hockey with a 1.000 winning percentage.
 
Hobart is ranked first in the nation in scoring defense (1.00 gpg), second in penalty-killing percentage (.961) and scoring margin (+3.09), ninth in scoring offense (4.09), 11th in power-play percentage (.275), 17th in total points (118) and 18th in total assists (73).
 
Individually, sophomore forward Luke Aquaro is ranked first in the nation with five game-winning goals. He is seventh in goals per game (0.82). Alexander is 16th in the nation in points per game (1.45) and sophomore Shane Shell is 23rd in assists per game (0.90).
 
First-year goalies Damon Beaver and Mavrick Goyer are tied for first in the nation in goalie winning percentage (1.000). Beaver is first in the nation in save percentage (.973) and goals against average (0.66) and his three shutouts are tied for second most in the nation. Goyer ranks sixth in the nation with a 1.40 GAA.
 
Hobart will be back on the ice Dec.30-31, when it welcomes Colby and Salve Regina for the Hockey Helpers Shootout. The Statesmen will take on the Mules Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. and the Seahawks at 4 p.m. on Dec. 31.
