7 November 2023 A Harvest Celebration
A gathering of traditions will be celebrated in St. John's Chapel followed by a reception in the Blackwell Room on Thursday, Nov. 9.
The Office of Spiritual Engagement will host a Harvest Celebration on Thursday, Nov. 9 in St. John’s Chapel. Rabbi Dr. Ann Landowne and Associate Professor of Religious Studies Shalahudin Kafrawi will offer remarks along with several community members.
Sponsored in conjunction with the Geneva Area Interfaith Council, the event is intended to unify people around the changing of the seasons, explains Spiritual Engagement Administrative Support Assistant Blinne Krieger, who will also speak at the event.
“The Harvest Celebration is an opportunity for people from different faiths and traditions to examine what this time of year means to them. The harvest and the changing of the seasons brings us together; we all have commonality with it even if we view it in different ways,” Krieger says.
Other members of campus and the local area who will join in the celebration include:
- Chaplain and Dean for Spiritual Engagement The Rev. Nita Byrd
- Aida Rolon from the Salvation Army
- The Rev. Colin Pritchard, Pastor of The Presbyterian Church in Geneva
- Marie Milligan from Our Lady of Peace Parish
- Jill McLellan from the Quaker Community
HWS students, faculty and staff and members of the Finger Lakes area are encouraged to attend.
