Rodman Stout ’24, who serves as a post-baccalaureate clinical fellow fellow at McLean Hospital, returned to campus on Nov. 1 to discuss her post-baccalaureate fellowship.
Rodman Stout ’24 is currently completing a two-year fellowship in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Program at McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate renowned for its psychiatric care and research. On Friday, Nov. 1, Stout returned to campus to discuss her work with children aged 7-13 who present with irritable and disruptive behavior. She discussed the challenges and rewards of working in this environment, as well as the specific therapeutic approaches used in the program to support children and their families.
In addition to providing an overview of her clinical work, Stout shared insights into the McLean Post-Baccalaureate Fellowship, a highly competitive program that allows recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in mental health care and research. Stout explained how this fellowship has helped her bridge the gap between undergraduate studies and a potential career in clinical psychology or a related field. Fellow HWS Psychological Science alumni Hudson Cunningham Baker ’23 and Katie Brown ’23 are in their second year of the McLean fellowship.
Stout graduated summa cum laude with a double major in psychological science and religious studies. She held a double minor in Education and English and studied abroad in Denmark. On campus, she was a member of Theta Phi Alpha, Psi Chi National Honor Society, Hai Timiai and the Laurel Society. She was the William Smith representative for the Honor’s comittee and started the Campus Access Association for students with disabilities at HWS. Stout also holds an Associate of Arts from SUNY Ulster.
