31 October 2024 • Alums • Entrepreneurship Alumni Launch New Podcast
Listen and subscribe to CTFO, a podcast for young professionals hosted by HWS alumni featuring CEOs, founders and other standout guests.
Hosted by Seamus Galvin ’23, Matthew Nusom ’23 and Reece Wilson ’24, the CTFO podcast is geared toward young professionals who are navigating the early stages of their careers.
Every episode takes a deep dive into topics such as career growth, leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship, and includes an interview with an industry leader from a wide spectrum of industries. So far, CTFO has featured edtech entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, C-suite executives and content creators.
The trio get together virtually to record episodes. Professionally, Galvin is a Data Specialist at IBM in Buffalo, N.Y. He is also the cofounder of the nonprofit CycleService. Nusom is a Risk and Financial Analyst at Deloitte in New York City. Wilson is the Entrepreneur in Residence at Colgate University.
“The goal of the podcast is to ask inspiring people simple questions, like who are you, and how did you get to where you are today,” Galvin says. “And in the process, demystify the whole thing.”
“We hope people tune into the podcast and are inspired by the stories they hear to chill out and understand they’re capable of doing really cool and important things too,” Nusom says.
“I believe many people, especially those in their early 20s, face a lot of fear and uncertainty about their careers as they step into the real world. Our goal is to help ease those pressures and remind them it’s okay to pause and breathe; to realize that life is longer than it feels in the moment, and where you are today is not where you’ll end up,” Wilson says.
Recent episodes featuring HWS alumni include:
- Kyle Patrick '20, professional bass fisherman
- Robert Sovik ’15, founder of Harpier
- Marco Ronning ’15, head of corporate development and investor relations at Brex
- Warren Zola ’89, P’18, executive director of Boston College's Chief Executive Club at the Carroll School of Management.
Galvin, Nusom and Wilson are all seasoned podcasters. During their sophomore year at HWS, Galvin and Nusom launched “Entrepreneurial Endeavors.” Episodes included interviews with industry leaders like Scott Keogh '91, CEO of Scott Motors, and Sabrina Horn ’83, CEO and founder of Horn Strategy. During a live taping in the Gearan Center for the Performing Arts, they interviewed Ali Marpet ’15, former NFL player and Super Bowl Champion.
As a senior at HWS, Wilson partnered with the Centennial Center to launch the “Behind Success” podcast. Episodes included interviews with President Mark D. Gearan and Head Coach of Hobart Hockey Mark Taylor.
CTFO, Wilson says, feels like “Entrepreneurial Endeavors” and “Behind Success” are finally joining forces.
