1 April 2024 • Arts Come Back, My Love: A Concert of Love Songs

The Hobart and William Smith Community Chorus will present Come Back, My Love on Wednesday, April 17 at the Presbyterian Church in Geneva.

In the second of their two annual performances, members of the Hobart and William Smith Colleges Community Chorus will present Come Back, My Love, a concert of love songs. They will sing a variety of art songs, madrigals and anthems featuring texts of Shakespeare, Goethe, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Georg Friedrich Daumer and Christina Rossetti. The evening will conclude with Brahms’ Neue Liebeslieder Walzer (New Love Songs), a collection of German Romantic songs for voices and four-hand piano.

The Community Chorus will be joined by local musicians Meg Heaton and Hilda Collins at the piano, as well as soloists from the Eastman School of Music Mary Fetterman, Emily Skilling, Andrew Miller and S Joshua Sheppard.

Under the musical direction of Colin Mann, the Community Chorus is comprised of students, faculty and staff as well as members from the surrounding community. The 50-voice ensemble performs major works from the standard musical canon as well as lesser-known works deserving wider familiarity.

The event will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Geneva (24 Park Place) on Wednesday, April 17, at 7:30 p.m. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
