Members of the HWS and Geneva community are invited to watch acclaimed artists perform and share their music on three separate evenings this semester. The concerts will take place in Froelich Hall in the Gearan Center for the Performing Arts.

  • Saturday, Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m., Bulgarian pianist Anna Petrova, who’s music has been called “artistic, clear and enlightened” by BBC Magazine, performs with Geneva’s own violinist Geoffrey Herd. The pair are both professors at the University of Louisville School of Music and co-artistic directors of ATX Chamber Music and Jazz.
  • Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7:30 (during Homecoming and Family Weekend), the Be Here Now Ensemble performs, featuring HWS faculty in the Music and Dance and Movement Studies Departments.
  • Friday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m., Trio Lucente includes violinist Claudia Schaer, cellist Jisoo Ok and pianist Olga Gurevich. They have performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Weill Recital Hall, Symphony Space in NYC and in concert halls around the world.
  • Friday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m., Indian Classical music ensemble Akshara. More information is forthcoming.

Njomo’s responsibilities have included researching the artists, creating promotional materials and promoting the events on campus and in the region.

On campus, Njomo is a music administration and entrepreneurship major. Through his coursework in topics from musical theory to entrepreneurship, he has discovered a passion for the business side of the music industry.

“My independent study has been a great opportunity to get a glimpse of how business is run in the music industry especially when it comes to concerts and orchestras,” he says.

As for his musical interests, Njomo listens to a variety of genres. He says he thinks HWS students and community members will enjoy each of the selected artists in the Guest Concert Series, who bring an eclectic mix of talent to campus.

On campus, Njomo is a student photographer and videographer in the Office of Communications, and an Endpoint Support Technician and student lead in HWS IT Services. Last summer, he interned at iHeart Radio.
