20 November 2024 • Arts Kinetic Dance Collective Puts on Yet Another Captivating Showcase By Sydney Herbruck '25
This semester, more than 120 students took center stage for the Kinetic Dance Collective’s annual fall showcase.
This semester, the Kinetic Dance Collective dazzled audiences as over 120 students took the stage for the club’s annual fall showcase, bringing passion and artistry to the Smith Opera House on Nov. 8 and 9.
For 53 years, the Kinetic Dance Collective has been a vibrant, inclusive community where dancers of all levels—from beginners to seasoned performers—can shine. This year’s showcase featured 20 electrifying, student-choreographed performances spanning a dynamic range of styles, including jazz, contemporary, tap, modern and hip-hop. Each piece showcased not only technical skill but also the creativity and individuality of the student choreographers.
More than just a club, the Kinetic Dance Collective is a bridge between the campus and the Geneva community, inviting audiences to share in the joy and artistry of dance. For two unforgettable nights, the historic Smith Opera House welcomed a packed house, offering a front-row seat to the dedication, talent and spirit that these students bring to their craft.
“This year’s show was so much fun to be a part of and witness both the creation process and the performances,” says Caroline Gharibian ’27, a member of the Kinetic Dance Collective board and the club’s Costume Consultant.
Gharibian says that “each piece was unique and unlike any other, which is a great representation of our campus! I think that giving our students a place to be creative and share that with their peers and the Geneva community is a special opportunity that I and many others are extremely grateful for.”

Formerly known as Koshare, the annual showcase dates back to 1971, with performances moving to the Smith Opera House in 2013 to accommodate growing audience demand. Year after year, the showcase proves that dance is not just an art form—it’s a celebration of connection, expression and community.
