In her human resources role at the four-star, boutique hotel, she interacts with all the company’s employees. “I enjoy recruiting and having new members join our team. It really is a family here at the Hotel Monaco and being the first point in the onboarding process is the best.”
Martin credits the MSM program with her self-confidence and success in the role. “We did multiple presentations in each of our classes like Marketing, Management Strategies and Organizational Development,” Martin explains. “Getting in front of the class and developing my public speaking skills took work and practice and made me more confident after graduating. Also, through different classes, I gained a broad knowledge of the business field which helps immensely.”
Prior to this position, Martin served as a payroll coordinator for Aimbridge Hospitality, also located in Pittsburgh, where she developed skills in organization, finance and teamwork.
While earning her undergraduate degree from Wells College, where she majored in business and minored in hospitality management, Martin worked for Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Company in its Employee Experience division. During her time at Wells, she also served as a financial intern for Vector Controls and was marketing manager at the student-run café, The Grind.
