Michael Barlow 11, co-founder of the online home furnishing subscription service Fernish, is featured in a new article in Forbes.
In Think Like a Lean Startup, Even If Youre Not A Startup, Barlow and his business partner Lucas Dickey share five key things they learned from their lean startup experience, including the importance of outsourcing and having a consistent company narrative.
Barlow and Dickey started Fernish in 2017 as a way to help people rent well-made furniture and dcor from trendy brands such as Crate & Barrel and CB2. Subscribers pick from individual pieces or already curated rooms and rent the furniture for a monthly fee.
A Druid and a standout on the Statesmen basketball team, Barlow graduated summa cum laude with degrees in economics and political science. A summer internship at JP Morgan Chase led to a position in their investment banking division.
Working in finance in New York City and for a start-up in Los Angeles required Barlow to move frequently, which inspired the idea for Fernish.
