31 May 2018 • Entrepreneurship Dragomir '17 Launches Winning App in Geneva

Connecting consumers with local discounts through the power of geofencing and artificial intelligence, Gyuri Dragomir '17 launched the app Deals en Route in Geneva on April 4 as part of early market testing. Deals en Route, available on the App Store, was created by Dragomir and Ato Bentsi-Enchill '17, finalists in the Colleges 2017 Stu Lieblein '90 Pitch Contest.

"This app can help Geneva and the Finger Lakes region by connecting wineries, small businesses and more with their desired customer base while helping customers find competitive prices tailored to their preferences, says Dragomir," whose partners so far include FLX Live, Oba Express and Madias Market.

"We do not charge businesses hefty participation fees and are the only local app on the market that allow businesses to distribute deals through the power of geofencing, which is more precise and accurate than the geolocation based marketing that their competitors are using," says Dragomir.

Since graduating, Dragomir has prioritized developing the Deals en Route interface; securing three patents; and working with the Colleges Margiloff Family Entrepreneurial Leadership Fellow Ed Bizari.

"We're setting the bar high and continuing to work to see how the company is performing while also trying to secure seed funding from private equity groups and venture capitals," says Dragomir, who majored in media and society and minored in entrepreneurial studies.

Deals en Route officially launched in Boulder, Colo. in March, signing approximately 20 percent of local businesses during its free monthly trial testing period. The app was downloaded more than 600 times in just the first few days.

Additional information for businesses on connecting with Deals en Route is available on its website. Updates for customers on app developments are available through social media including Facebook and Instagram.
