1 November 2019 How to Find a Meaningful Career? Levy 66 Says Start Now

In his newest book, Start Now: Because That Meaningful Job Is Out There, Just Waiting For You, Reynold Levy 66, L.H.D. 14 offers readers a roadmap through the lessons and experiences hes accrued in his career, to think about what you really want to do with your life.

Levy, who has served as president of Lincoln Center, the Robin Hood Foundation and the AT&T Foundation, has long taken an interest in helping people who approach me about their futures newcomers to the workplace, people whove been recently fired, those sensing career stall and ready to advance, those eager to move on, those finding their work deadening or tedious, those facing midlife crisis or pre-retirement planning.

In Start Now, he walks readers through the process of planning for the future deliberately, practically and imaginatively, whatever the current state of their careers. Levy distills his experience as both an employee and an executive, resulting in a book about work finding work you love, getting it, doing it well, leaving it butalso a book about how to live, writes Jennifer Homans, prize-winning author, founder of the Center for Ballet and the Arts and dance critic for The New Yorker. Part memoir, part social analysis, part practical guide, it is a terrific read: wise and fun, deep and light, full of stories about people and problems, and the sheer good pleasure of a job that gives back to the world.

You dont have to cure cancer or be an expat humanitarian worker to lead a meaningful life. Theres a breadth of opportunities and approaches I refer to, Levy says. Policemen, sanitation workers, first responders, public servants, those who serve in the military: they all lead meaningful lives. The book is an effort to help you be inner-directed and live your life in a way that exposes you to a wide variety of opportunities that you can naturally seize when youre ready for them. The book will guide you to take more control of that voyage and not be a cork in the water moving along the tides of economic change.

Start Now will be published Jan. 28, 2020, but is available for pre-order now.
