In conjunction with Earth Day, Hobart and William Smith has organized a week of activities that will enhance the Colleges sustainability efforts and environmental impact on campus.
Our goal is to help campus members realize how a small change in lifestyle can make a big difference to the environment, saysSustainability Manager Michael Amadori. Its not just about recycling. Students will have opportunities to repair their bikes and swap clothes. Plus we will have a filmmaker screening his documentary about oil pipeline protests and a guest speaker discussing sustainable traveling abroad.
This year, Earth Week takes place from Saturday, April 14 through Sunday, April 22. The following activities will take place throughout the week:
Saturday, April 14:
- Pilates on the Dock, 9 a.m. atBristol Field House
- Day of Service, 12 4 p.m. at various locations in the HWS and Geneva communities
- Campout at the Farm, 5 p.m. Sunday 3 p.m. at Fribolin Farm
Monday, April 16:
- Meatless Monday at Saga Dining Hall
- Stern Hall Waste Audit, 10 a.m. 3 p.m. on William Smith Lawn
Tuesday, April 17
- Plant Sale, 9 11 a.m. in Scandling Campus Center
- Apple Tree Planting, 2 4:30 p.m. at the Campus Garden, St. Clair St.
Wednesday, April 18
- Local Breads at Saga Dining Hall
- Bike Workshop, 1 5 p.m. in Scandling Campus Center
- Learn to Travel the World: Jason Borings Travel Hacking Adventures, 7 9 p.m. in Hirshson Ballroom
Thursday, April 19
- Clothing Swap/Repair Workshop; Clothing Swap is running all day, Repair Workshop 5 6 p.m. in Scandling Campus Center
- Tie-Dye, 2 4 p.m. in front of Scandling Campus Center
Friday, April 20
- Sustainable Seafood at Saga Dining Hall
- Screening of Denying Access: NoDAPL to NoNAPL with Executive Director and Producer Jason Corwin, 4:30 7:30 p.m. inthe Seneca Room
- After Dark Series Making Bird Feeders and Starter Kale Plants Workshop, 7 p.m. in Scandling Campus Center
Saturday, April 21
- Spring Fest, 12 5 p.m. on Stern Lawn
Sunday, April 22
- Earth Day 2018
- AFSP Out of the Darkness Walk for Suicide Prevention, 1 3 p.m. on Boswell Field Outdoor Track
- Pilates on the Dock, 7 a.m. at Bozzuto Boathouse dock
