14 April 2017 • Athletics Quigg '18 to Intern at TV Guide

This summer, Haleigh Quigg '18 will intern with the American magazine TV Guide in New York City working with its marketing team to investigate new business opportunities, brands, companies, and contacts, as well as to provide support to the creative, sales and research teams at its corporate office.

TV Guide provides television program listings information as well as television-related news, celebrity interviews and gossip, and reviews. A writing and rhetoric major and media and society minor, Quigg applied for the internship in January hoping to gain experience in the publications industry.

Quigg says her Introduction to Publishing class, taught by Professor of Writing and Rhetoric Cheryl Forbes, gave her the confidence to excel in her interview for the position. Over the course of the semester, each student in the class created an entire magazine. Quigg's magazine, Skier's Edge was inspired by her passion for skiing which began at the age of nine and has continued through her competitions with the Hobart and William Smith skiing team.

Quigg's vision for the magazine is to be a one-stop shop for competitive skiers, families looking for vacation resorts, as well as beginners interested in learning more about the sport. After bringing her magazine to the interview, as well as her business plan and the stats for the next four years of the magazine, Quigg's interviewers told her that they had never received anything like it from an intern before. Shortly after, they asked her to join their team this summer.

"I was in shock," says Quigg, "especially because I knew they were only taking two interns within this department."

On campus, Quigg has also been involved with the William Smith club soccer team, Her Campus and the Women's Collective.
