- In memory of the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the Kappa Alpha Society placed American flags near Trinity Hall overlooking the Quad as part of the annual day of remembrance. The HWS community lost three alumni in the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001: Andrew H. Golkin ’93, Scott W. Rohner ’01 and Michael J. Simon ’83, P’11, P’13.

- Directed by Assistant Professor of Theatre Chris Woodworth and written by playwright Qui Nguyen, “She Kills Monsters” explores the world of role-playing before the technology boom, through the narration of a geek heroine.
- Frank Brown '17 speaks to students about Native American culture after learning the students were in the midst of a Native American history unit. Brown, a member of the Seneca Nation, discussed life on a reservation and the misperceptions and challenges faced by Native Americans today.

- Poet Claudia Rankine gives a reading of her work “Citizen: An American Lyric” at the Smith Center for the Arts. The book was this year’s Common Read for the first year experience at HWS and has inspired campus dialogue around issues of race and racism.
