The editor of the Journal of Economic Issues, Waller recently returned from Cambridge University where he served as the Helen Cam Visiting Fellow at Girton College.
- Associate Professor of Environmental Studies Kristen Brubaker discusses classwork with Derrick Acheampong ’19. Brubaker’s research revolved around remote sensing data to improve understanding of hydrologic, soil and terrain processes and how they impact forest landscapes.

- Steven Canals, who created and co-executive produced FX’s POSE alongside Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk ’93, L.H.D. ’14, is interviewed by students in “Introduction to LGBTQ Studies.” Canals discussed the intersectionality within LGBTQ movements, the making of POSE as a LGBT-themed 1980s series, and the importance of media representation for people who identify as transgender.

- A statue of Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell sits on the outskirts of the Quad. In 1849, Blackwell graduated from the medical school of Geneva College (Hobart’s precursor) as the first woman in the country to receive a medical degree. Geneva College was renamed Hobart Free College in 1852 and Hobart College in 1860.

The 2018-2019 series celebrates the 200th anniversary of Bishop John Henry Hobart selecting the site for the college and the 100th anniversary of the armistice that ended WWI.
