In this special edition of This Week in Photos, we highlight the special faculty student bonds that flourish at the Colleges. Here, Associate Professor of Sociology James Sutton and Ara McCorkle ’20 discuss her Honors project research titled, “Professionalization of Past Criminality and Addiction: How Former Prisoners and Addicts Manage a “Professional Ex” Identity.”

With a 10:1 student-teacher ratio, students receive individualized attention from professors who are experts in their field. In the photo above, Associate Professor of French and Francophone Studies Kanate Dahouda brings his “Introduction to Francophone Cultures” class outside.

Through the First-Year Seminar (FSEM), students gain a foundation for critical thinking and communication skills. FSEM professors are also students’ first adviser.
