Student Spotlight: Holly McCarty '25

In my role as the Cohen ’67 Leadership Intern, I am involved with all of the leadership programs offered by the Centennial Center. I track the progress of students in both the HWS LEADs certificate program and the Leadership Distinction programs, meeting with students one-on-one to determine what components must be completed. I also work closely with the First-Year Mentor program, holding office hours for mentors and helping to teach the leadership content of the LEAD 250 course. The Centennial Scholars Program is another one of my projects as the Leadership Intern, and I have worked closely with Dean Kaenzig to build a community feeling among our first-year scholars. We have also created a new mentor program that pairs Centennial Scholars with first-year scholars to provide additional support and information about the Center.

My work in this role has allowed me to practice leadership in a variety of settings, including in the classroom, as a mentor, and as the student contact for the leadership programs. This experience has allowed me to feel much more comfortable in my leadership abilities and I look forward to carrying these skills with me into my next adventure, law school!
