Support from HWS staff and alumni help economics major land position at top investment firm.

Grace Swartz ’24, who graduated cum laude in economics, has joined Fidelity Investments as a Financial Services Representative at the company’s office in Framingham, Mass.

In her role, Swartz is supporting customers by placing trades,  transferring funds and identifying resources, while studying to obtain her Securities Industry Essentials, Series 7 and Series 66 licenses.

“HWS has profoundly prepared me for this role through experiences both inside and outside the classroom,” says Swartz. “My economics classes and campus involvement have equipped me with the necessary technical and soft skills for success.”

Additionally, Swartz says the support she received from the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Education has been crucial to her growth and development.

“The mentorship from HWS alumni at Fidelity, especially from individuals like Travis Ferland ’11,” the vice president and financial consultant at the Framingham branch, “has been incredibly helpful,” Swartz says. “Their guidance and support throughout the application and interview process have been invaluable and I look forward to working alongside them.”

Swartz says she’s eager to network and take advantage of the opportunities Fidelity provides her. She also plans to help future HWS students.

“I aspire to be a resource and mentor for other HWS students, paying forward the guidance and support I have been fortunate to receive from HWS alumni,” she says. “Their mentorship has been instrumental in helping me reach my current position and I am eager to extend the same support to other students.”

Swartz joins Fidelity along with Thomas Walker ’24, who is serving as a Financial Services Representative.

At HWS, Swartz studied abroad in Prague, Czech Republic in 2022 and was a co-president of the Society of Women in Economics and a member of the Finance Society. She worked for the Office of Advancement.
