Paid Family Leave (PFL)
In accordance with New York State legislation, the Colleges will provide Paid Family Leave (PFL) coverage for eligible employees. It provides wage replacement and job protection to employees who need time away from their jobs to:
- Bond with a newly born, adopted or fostered child.
- Care for a family member with a serious health condition, or
- Assist loved ones when a family member is deployed abroad on active military duty.
As of January 1, 2025, employees who are estimated to work full-time on a work schedule of 20 hours per week of consecutive employment and part-time employees that work less than 20 hours per week and employed after 175 days worked are eligible for the benefit. Faculty are currently exempted from PFL.
For 2025, employees taking Paid Family Leave will receive 67% of their average weekly wage, up to a cap of 67% of the current Statewide Average Weekly Wage of $1,757.19 The maximum weekly benefit for 2025 is $1,177.32. New York Paid Family Leave is insurance that is funded by employees through payroll deductions. In 2025, the contribution is 0.373% of an employee’s gross wages each pay period.
