Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP) Freshman Survey is administered by the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) at UCLA. The survey has been administered since 1966 and is designed to provide comprehensive information on an institution's incoming first year students.

National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) surveys first year and senior students in colleges and universities to assess the extent to which they engage in proven educational practices that correspond to desirable learning outcomes. The survey has been administered since the spring of 1998 and HWS has participated since the spring of 2003.

Wabash National Study of Liberal Arts Education (WNSLAE) is a longitudinal study used to investigate critical facts that affect the outcomes of liberal arts education. HWS joined the WNSLAE Study in 2008. Students were tested in the spring of 2009 and 2012.
Higher Education Data Sharing Consortium (HEDS) was created in 1983 and is a consortium of more that 140 premier private colleges and universities with an emphasis on liberal arts education. The consortium supports member institutions in strategic planning and research through the collection and sharing of special studies and research reports.
