The Counseling Center

The Counseling Center provides free, confidential services for HWS students, including individual and group counseling; emergency psychological services; and outreach and educational programming. The Counseling Center also offers psychological consultation to studentsfaculty and staff as well as parents and families who are concerned about a student.

The staff of The Counseling Center are committed to delivering professional services that respect both individual differences and our common humanity. Our professional guidelines and personal values call us to recognize prejudice, privilege, and discrimination in all of its forms (including gender identity, race, ethnicity, culture, religion, sexual orientation, disability, socioeconomic status, and more), and to become aware of the effects on individuals and groups to which those individuals belong. We seek to apply this commitment in all of our professional activities, and to support the growth of communities that work better for everyone.

Hubbs Health Center

The Hubbs Health Center strives to reduce the risk of individual illness and injury, enhance health as a strategy to support student learning and advocate for safety, social justice and human dignity. Hubbs provides students with assistance for illness and injury, all gender health care, limited laboratory services and psychotropic medication consult and monitoring. The Hubbs Health Center staff receives annual training on LGBTQ+ identities as well as targeted information regarding their healthcare. The Colleges work with Folx Health to provide gender-affirming care such as hormone replacement therapy.  Students seeking this service should contact the Hubbs Health Center and ask for a Folx Health Care appointment. A representative will reach out to facilitate the Folx registration process. Neither Folx Health or the Colleges bill insurance for this service. Hubbs Health Center will provide the required laboratory check-up appointments at no cost.  We also recommend transgender/gender nonconforming students to additionally explore other services for LGBTQ+ specific care at the following locations:
